A question for all the popular people?

Okay well is it true that all of the popular people and their popular group arent reall good friends and they just use them for their image? Cuz what I don't understand is hoe the popular people invite like 100 ppl to their birthday party and manage to be friends with them! Cuz at my school there r these two popular girls that are basically each others like posers. What I mean is like they know that they aren't even close. When they are around each other they are like "ahhh!!! ily!!" but then when they are away with their other friends they're like Uhg that bi***. My friend was talking to a popular person and she said not to join the extremely popular people because they will suck you in and will make you pretend to be their friend for their image. So all you popular girls out there, is this thing true? And plz be honest :) and Srry this was so long hahah
